This is the second week of using NZSL. In the video I did make mistakes, like forgetting to include some signs and the incorrect structure of some sentences. I also forgot some of the signs, like 'learn' and it took me a few minutes to remember. I give myself a score of 5 for speed, a 5 for accuracy and a 5 for fluidity for a total of 15/30. I did not do as well as last week, but I intend to fix my mistakes in my next video. (Please do not use this as a reference for correct NZSL)
This is the third week of using NZSL. In the video I made some mistakes, but not as many as last week. I improved the fluidity of my signing, but I did make certain mistakes with the structure of a sentence. Usually in sign, the subject of you sentence is signed first. I also used the wrong expression in one of my questions. I give myself a score of 7 for speed, a 6 for accuracy and a 8 for fluidity for a total of 21/30. This is the fourth week of using NZSL. I did improve this week by fixing mistakes I've made from previous weeks. Of course I did make some mistakes, which will probably happen every week, but I do think I am improving. I give myself a score of 7 for speed, a 8 for accuracy and a 7 for fluidity for a total of 22/30. (Please do not use this as a reference for correct NZSL)
This is the fifth week of using NZSL. I think I did pretty well this week with minimal mistakes. I've taken account of mistakes I've made in my other videos and tried to sign as accurate as possible. I think next week I will add more signs to challenge myself. I give myself a score of 8 for speed, a 8 for accuracy and a 8 for fluidity for a total of 24/30. This is the sixth week of using NZSL. This week I added more signs including information about my family. Since this is the first week I used these signs I didn't expect it to be perfect and I expected mistakes. However, I think I did pretty well considering. I give myself a score of 7 for speed, a 6 for accuracy and a 7 for fluidity for a total of 20/30. (Please do not use this as a reference for correct NZSL)
This is the seventh week of using NZSL. I don't have much to say this week. I've tried to fix as many mistakes as I could from last week. I still think I need practice before I've memorised the new signs. I give myself a score of 8 for speed, a 7 for accuracy and a 7 for fluidity for a total of 22/30. (Please do not use this as a reference for correct NZSL)
This is the eighth week of using NZSL. It took me 8 weeks before I've finally realised I've been signing 'I don't know' completely wrong. I aim to fix that for next week. I think I should check the signs I've been using and make sure I'm doing them right next week. I give myself a score of 8 for speed, a 7 for accuracy and a 8 for fluidity for a total of 25/30. This is the last week of using NZSL. This has been my best week, which is not surprising because I've had a lot of practice to be able to sign well. There are few pauses and parts where I've realised my fingerspelling (using your fingers to sign letters) couldn't be seen by the camera, but I don't think those are mistakes because it's normal for people to pause during sentences and mispronounce words. I think I've improved a lot since the first week and I'm impressed with what I've learned. I give myself a score of 9 for speed, a 9 for accuracy and a 9 for fluidity for a total of 27/30. These past few weeks filming has opened my eyes to what you can achieve in such little time. Before I started, I didn't know anything about New Zealand Sign Language or its culture. Now I know how to introduce myself and talk about all sorts of topics like family, hobbies, everyday activities and I even have my own sign name! I know that there is such a thing as deaf club and the deaf olympics and have learned a little about the deaf culture and the life of a deaf person. Filming these videos allows me to see the improvement I've made from the beginning of this NZSL journey until now and I know when I become fluent in NZSL I will have this to look back on and have a laugh.
This is my first video of using NZSL. In the video I use sign to introduce myself and give you general information about me. Every week I will post a new video signing the same information and may add more when I learn new topics and signs. I give myself a score of 6 for speed, a 7 for accuracy and a 7 for fluidity for a total of 20/30. (Please do not use this as a reference for correct NZSL)
