My Attempt at Interpreting

This is my attempt at translating a scene from Forrest Gump where he says, 'Life is like a box of chocolates'. Of course, I don't know if I was 100% accurate, but I did my best with what I knew. If I didn’t know the signs for some of the words or sentences, I either tried to say it in another way or learned the specific sign for a word. Like for the word ‘Shoe’ I looked up in the online dictionary and for ‘My mama used to say’ I signed ‘My mother before say.’ I think for a beginner in New Zealand Sign Language I did well and I'm proud of myself for taking on this challenge. I thought it would be impossible for me to interpret the scene in sign as it was playing, so instead I wrote down the lines and translated them before I filmed. Then I practiced the new signs before finally filming the translation. I didn’t know how to edit the video side by side so I apologise for the inconvenience of having to play both videos at the same time. However, if you start the videos at the same time they should be in sync. Above are the lines from this scene and the translation in red.
